My new beau, Tony Kahn, and I have formed a band with his friend Eric Bogart. We are called Echoes of Django and we do have a website already, check it out! http://www.echoesofdjango.com/ We play Gypsy Jazz music which is really awesome and ground-breaking territory for me. It's a blend of French and American jazz standards. This is especially cool because I know many of the jazz standards which were taken from musical theater, plus I get to use my French which I love. I definitely never thought I'd be in a band, so this is pretty darn sweet ;] Annnnnnd... do have a gig coming up this Sunday March 24th for French Fest at the Seattle Center! Our time slot is 11:15am-11:45am. Here are the details: Join the community on March 24, 2013 from 11:00am-6:00pm at the Seattle Center’s Armory/Center House for a free, family-friendly event celebrating Francophone cultures and traditions from around the world. Festival-goers will listen to live music, see theater and dance performances, taste international cuisine, learn from informative seminars, play games and enjoy a day full of fun activities! À très bientôt! Info at www.fenpnw.org I'm equally nervous and excited to announce I'll be singing about 4 hours of lovey jazz music tonight at the Tandem Wine and Cheese Bar! The incomparable Ray Woods will be my partner on guitar, 5-9pm. There should be some video to follow shortly. Happy Valentine's Day y'all ;)
Review of Santa's First Magical Ride
This is some awesome feedback we got!
"I just got back from Santa's Magical Ride! It was GREAT. I loved the music, acting, and the dancing and the little kids in the audience's rapt attention and singing along. I even sang along. Everything was so cleverly done. Those reindeer, and the elf King, the real Santa (Paul Carr), and the darling little girl (Maia Vazquez). Some great songs were written, and beautiful voices, and excellent musicians. My friend thoroughly enjoyed it, too. The elves (Leslie Youngblood, Malia Zurcher, Zachary Milsteadt, Katheranne Reese, Charmaine Slavin, Lara Fox) were just darling. I loved every one, and the young Santa,(Elijah Williams) too. I'm glad there's another show tonight, and tomorrow, and it's running next weekend, too. I hope lots of people get to see it this year. It brought tears to my eyes to see this wonderful story brought to such tender expression by a bunch of pros! I know they weren't ALL pros, but many very obviously were. Just as touching to see plain old folks, community talent, putting it on. The angel, (Lara Fox) her voice, her costume, the lighting, woo! I got chills! And King Krill (Eric Pope) was so mean! It all came together well. I loved the end. Just right. What a show! Thanks." Patty Ok. Today is very exciting. It's my birthday first of all. Yay! But also, this Friday my Christmas musical "Santa's First Magical Ride" opens. It is every weekend from December 7th-23rd, Fridays and Sarurdays at 7pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. It's in the auditorium of the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center in West Seattle, and it's really looking good guys.
AND, next Tuesday, the 11th, I'm acting in a *free* reading of a new play at the Seattle Repertory, also at 7pm. So much fun stuff! Please come if you can. :) Well I haven't done this in a while, but I'm having a great time doing two shows at once. Les Precieuses Ridicules starts tech week on Tuesday, so tonight is our last regular run. Mon dieu! It really is going well though, and 11/17 is already sold out! Santa's First Magical Ride is also great. It's so fun to be tapping again, and my boyfriend Zach just joined the cast! I'm officially playing Elizabeth the Christmas Angel and Fingle the elf, and Zach is definitely playing Dingle the elf, and possibly also Young Santa. Ciao for now!
Today is my first rehearsal for this new Christmas musical! I'm pretty stoked since I get to originate a part again, (last time it was as Mahtigwess for the world premiere of "Rough-Face Girl." Also, today's rehearsal is for choreography, and girl, I don't dance much anymore so it should be super fun!
