Here's my sweet costume for Shadow in the burlesque play Queen of Everything!

Why hello there! So much has happened in the last few months...
I performed at two sweet cabarets in NYC, Bound for Broadway and Cranky Cabaret. I had a ton of fun performing four new songs and making new friends! You can see all four videos on my YouTube Singing Playlist.
I've been taking this great class Acting Heart NYC which focuses on cold-read auditions. I got to put these skills to the test at a few auditions for Casting Directors around town and had a great time.
I also recently joined the cast of The Queen of Everything as the character Shadow (picture above). I am super stoked to be a part of this full-length burlesque play that performs in both Baltimore, MD and NYC. Additionally, during this run I will be performing in a private reading of my good friend Ashley Rogers' new play The Last Ring as part of The Dirty Blondes Beta Series. I am very excited to bring the pro-wrestler character of Alexa to life.

halloween update

Happy Halloween, Muffins! (Yes, my costume is Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. What the what? Nerds! Blerg. Hey dummies. I WANT TO GO TO THERE.)

Tomorrow, November 1st, marks my first full month in NYC. It has flown by! Since being here I've managed to snag a bunch of extra work on several TV shows. It's been great fun networking, being on set, and exploring the city. The rest of my time has been filled with researching representation, catching up with local friends, and auditioning. The hustle isn't super glamorous, but it is necessary, and it is paying off. In closing, have fun out there tonight. And eat all the candy! Lemon out.

how is it october???

As many of you know a LOT has happened since my last post in April. Following the closing of ...Forum with SMT I performed in a dance fundraiser at Emerald City Trapeze (which led to me updating my dance reel!). Then in June I played Helena in the new musical "Midsummer Night's Fantasy," at the beautiful Broadway Performance Hall in Capitol Hill. In July I acted for the first time in the 48 Hour Film Project, and the next week I laid down a ton of audition footage with my talented videographer friend John Ulman (one of which can be seen here), and my last artistic venture before leaving Seattle was a sweet, body-positive photo shoot with Mark Laubenheimer (and later I wrote this accompanying essay ICYMI.)
I then got in my little Prius on August 31st and drove off into the sunset. It was the beginning of my cross country adventure! Two weeks - and many experiences later - I was in MA, where I spent two more weeks packing and cleaning and organizing and seeing family. Which brings us all the way to October, where I am now a proud resident of Brooklyn, NY. In fact, I celebrated my one-weekiversary yesterday! I even managed to book my first gig; some background work on the new 1970s pilot The Deuce. I film October 16th, so I'll keep you posted about when it's airing. Cheers to life!

Today was my first rehearsal for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, with Seattle Musical Theater. http://seattlemusicaltheatre.org/blog/productions/season-37/a-funny-thing-happened-on-the-way-to-the-forum/. I'm very excited to be playing Vibrata this time around (I first did this show in Boston eight years ago, and played Gymnasia). We perform April 10-26 at their home base, stay tuned for updates.

Next up today is a talk-through with Director of Midsummer Night's Fantasy, with Bellicose Fantast. I'm thrilled to be playing Helena in this new musical adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. This show performs at Broadway Performance Hall June 17-21, and details will be forthcoming.

2015 is off to a great start!

Birds and BBQs

I never blogged about my most recent film, and I was just cast in a play, so I have a lot of work to do!
I recently spent a fun day on set filming BBQ Chronicles (working title), up in Snohomish. It's a great cast, crew, and script, produced by Yardarm Entertainment. I play Carolyn, a woman who is one of many affected by recent unsolved murders in her neighborhood. It's now in post production, but I'll let you all know when it's finished!

Over this past weekend I was cast in the new play Winter Bird, performing at Eclectic Theater this coming January! I'll be playing an Alaskan police officer in this fantasy-thriller, and I am very excited about this production. The story is a lot of fun, and the cast and crew are wonderful.

Summer stuff!

Since closing the magnificent production of The Grimaldis in May, I've been forced to take it easy. I underwent my third foot surgery in June to hopefully put an end to some dance-related injuries and pain from the last 10 years (has it really been that long?). Fortunately, that has given me time to see some amazing Seattle theater and film, and also be available for several unique projects I might not otherwise have been able to do!

I'm excited to announce I'll be doing voiceover work tonight on a friend's personal project, that I'm pretty honored to be a included in. It is called "Oocyte Ritual" and is part of Inheritance, Maiden, Mother, Crone, which is being produced by Sinner Saint Burlesque. You can catch it at Theater Off Jackson this October 9th-19th.

My improv and sketch comedy group Turbo Turkey is going to be busy all summer long as well! You can see us performing improv at the Burien Actor's Theater Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7pm and 9:30pm starting July 25th.

I've also been asked to do a staged reading for NPA at Seattle Repertory Theater this September 9th at 7pm (it's free! You should come!). It's a musical called North Wind Blowin', written by David A. Tucker II, with songs by him and Scott Warrender, and Don Latarski. I'll be playing Anne-Marie.

Which reminds me, I've just agreed to do the NPA's super fun Double Shot festival (third time now! Also free!) this October 18th. If you've never experienced this frenzy of overnight writing followed by same-day rehearsal and performance you're missing out!

This is shaping up to be a pretty great summer of fun little projects. Hope to see you there!
